Bereavement
The Bereavement Ministry is dedicated to offering prayer, grief counseling and assistance in planning the funeral liturgy to members of St. Isaac Jogues Parish Family who experience the loss of a loved one.
To accomplish our mission, when the parish is notified of the death of a parishioner or a family member of a parishioner and the request to hold the funeral at our church, the assigned Parish Deacon and diocesan trained ministry members meet with the survivors of the deceased and assist in planning the funeral liturgy. The assigned deacon and ministry members who meet with the survivors assist at the funeral viewing (if held in the Chapel) and at the Funeral Mass. During the Mass, the assigned deacon presents a Remembering Cross to the survivors who are invited to place it on the Parish Remembering Board so that the deceased is remembered in prayers throughout the year.
After the funeral, the ministry members contact the survivors throughout the year offering prayer, suggesting grief counseling services if needed and the planning of non-stipend Memorial Mass on the anniversary of the death of the deceased.

Social Concerns Mission Statement:
• Social Concerns is every Catholic's baptismal call to serve and is
an integral part of our parish life.
• Social Concerns involves a faithful participation in society by assisting in fostering the pastoral mission and the ministry of service by encouraging members of the parish to deepen their understanding of Catholic social concerns. Involvement in social issues is an important means by which this church carries out its participation in society.
• Social Concerns should be as enlightening and nurturing to committee members as to those whom they strive to help. The committee will network within school and social agencies and strive to identify pockets of need within our community and develop responses and services for same. Social Concerns will support and/or develop programs of outreach, intervention and service.
• Social Concerns will work towards promoting awareness, action, and solidarity and seek participation of all members of the parish community on behalf of the needy.

A Social Concerns volunteer will be available to assist any person in need of food. A food checklist will be given to each person who stops at the church's main entrance. The list will then be collected and the volunteer will fill the shopping bags based on the list provided. The bags will then be placed outside the entrance doors for pickup.
Only Social Concerns volunteers will be permitted inside the church.
